CMP Media's Network Magazine Announces 16th Annual Products of the Year Award WinnersPRNewswire-FirstCall CMP Media's Network Magazine today announced the winners of its 16th Annual Products of the Year Awards. Chosen by Network Magazine's industry-leading editors, these awards recognize the outstanding technical achievement of products and services that are most significant to the network IT community. Network Magazine's annual Products of the Year Awards are acknowledged as one of the networking industry's longest running and most distinguished awards programs. During January and February 2003, Network Magazine editors define relevant categories and nominate candidates. All editorial staff members participate in the judging, weighing nominations with comparative data. Network Magazine editors also consult readers and active members in the industry to further explore vendor and product performance. Products of the Year Awards are given to products and services released in the 2002 calendar year and are based on the following criteria: the broad appeal of the product or service to the network IT community; competitive enhancements; price/performance advantages; technical ingenuity; new features and applications; and serviceability to the market. "This year's winners prove that innovation in the network IT space is alive and well, despite the tough year for the high-tech market. Many noteworthy hardware and software products, as well as services, emerged that will provide great returns for network IT managers and their enterprises," commented Steve Steinke, Editor-in-Chief. "In fact, this climate actually spawned a number of creative approaches to getting the job done, while still remaining within the confines of constrained IT budgets." Twenty-seven awards were handed out in eight categories focused on product and service areas essential to today's Network IT Buyers, including security, network hardware, management, telephony and messaging, services, server hardware and software, and emerging technology. The Products of the Year Award winners will be featured in the May 2003 issue of Network Magazine, and listed at www.networkmagazine.com. Category Company Product
