CMP Media's Network Magazine Names 15th Annual Product of the Year Award WinnersPRNewswire-FirstCall Network Magazine, CMP Media's only global monthly networking publication for network/IT professionals, has announced the winners of its 15th annual Product of the Year Award. Network Magazine's annual Product of the Year Award is recognized as one of the networking industry's longest running awards programs. "The Product of the Year Awards have become an industry tradition and are eagerly anticipated each year by Network Magazine readers," stated Editor-in-Chief, Steve Steinke. The criteria used to judge Product of the Year Award winners include the broad appeal of the product or service to the reader community; competitive enhancements; price/performance advantages; technical ingenuity; new features and applications; and serviceability to the market. During January and February, Network Magazine editors evaluate and define relevant categories within the networking technology industry. Lead editors are assigned, according to their areas of expertise, to nominate potential winners. All editorial staff members participate in the judging panel to weigh the nomination with comparative data. The Network Magazine editors consult with readers and active members in each vertical industry to further explore and confirm winners in each category. The 2002 categories are focused on product and service areas essential to today's network/IT buyers, including Wireless LANs, storage hardware, network servers, security, troubleshooting tools and outsourced services. To qualify for Product of the Year Award consideration, the product or service has to ship during calendar year 2001. "Through an extensive research and review process, the editors select the most innovative and significant hardware, software, and service offerings to hit the market in 2001," said Editor-in-Chief, Steve Steinke. The Product of the Year Award winners will be featured in the May 2002 issue of Network Magazine. An awards ceremony for this year's winners will be held at Wednesday, May 8th during Networld + Interop Spring 2002 in Las Vegas. The 2002 Network Magazine Product of the Year Winners are:
