The Midsize Enterprise Summit brings senior IT executives from midsize businesses together with industry analysts and leading and emerging vendors. The event embraces midmarket-specific issues, trends and solutions from a horizontal and vertical industry-specific perspective. The business intensive format includes analyst-led sessions, vendor-led World Premiers, Private Boardroom Appointments, a Showcase of Exhibits, as well as networking functions.

"Many shifts are occurring in the midmarket that effect IT and CIOs need to embrace them. Our extraordinary line up of speakers will help these CIOs gain a better understanding of what technologies they must evaluate and why they will impact how business is done in the midmarket. We are looking forward to an exciting event," said Nancy Hammervik, Vice President/Managing Director, Everything Channel Events.

Andrew McAfee, author and Harvard Business School Professor will present "Social Media in a Corporate Environment - What you need to be aware of." McAfee will discuss how companies are using Web 2.0 technologies and practices to increase revenues, decrease costs, and generate innovations. McAfee coined the phrase "Enterprise 2.0" and has a book on this topic, which will be published in August 2009. In his presentation McAfee will show how Enterprise 2.0 addresses tough organizational challenges and how it brings novel capabilities. McAfee will describe what successful companies and their leaders are doing to succeed with the new tools.

Geoffrey A. Moore, Author of "Crossing the Chasm" and "Inside the Tornado" and Managing Director, TCG Advisors and a venture partner at MDV will present "A Fundamental Shift in Focus." Moore will discuss how for most of the history of IT, midsize enterprise investment has been driven primarily by the development and deployment of the great database systems of record: financials, HR, order processing, inventory, customer relationship, supply chain, product life cycle, and the like. Now that much of that work is largely done it no longer will drive new investment and it will no longer engage the business side of the house in the IT dialog. Moore will provide an overview of the impact that will have on IT organizations and vendors.

In addition, Niel Nickolaisen, CIO and Director of Strategic Planning at Headwaters, Inc will present the CIO Insight Session. Nickolaisen has held both technology and operations executive positions; typically in turnaround roles. He has developed a strategic and tactical alignment model that significantly improves returns on technology and business initiatives (by both improving the benefits and reducing the costs and risks). Nickolaisen holds a MS in Engineering from MIT and a BS in Physics from Utah State University. He writes the "Practical CIO" column for the CIO Leadership Network and a "how to" column for Search CIO. Additionally, he is the author of an Addison Wesley book on Agile Leadership scheduled for release in 2009. He is one of the founders of Accelinnova, a think tank focused on improving organizational and IT agility.

For the first time, the Midsize Enterprise Summit will present the CIO Vision Awards & Top 100 Midsize CIO List. The awards will honor companies and individuals who demonstrate innovation, excellence and partnership in deploying IT solutions, while these individuals are helping their organizations create a true competitive advantage by leveraging technology.
