FRAMINGHAM, Mass., Dec. 16, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- UBM Channel, in partnership with UBM Studios, today announced the success of the second annual COMDEXvirtual event, the largest independent virtual gathering of the IT Channel. With more than 4,300 attendees over the course of two days, the impressive virtual event featured more than 40 speakers, a dozen keynotes, and nine on demand conference sessions. CRN Editorial Director Kelley Damore, also unveiled the first annual "Best Companies to Partner With," a comprehensive directory of the must-have vendors that VARs should partner with. According to feedback, more than 90% of attendees suggested the content presented was relevant and interesting and thought the environment was intuitive and user friendly. Among the most popular sessions were: "Redefining the Channel Ecosystem" presented by Robert Faletra, CEO, UBM Channel; "What Are the Best Companies to Partner With?" presented by Kelley Damore, Editorial Director, CRN; and "Cloud Computing - The Opportunity is NOW for Business Partners" presented by Don Cotey, Chief Strategist, IBM. A new, popular session this year was "Channel Training To Grow Your Business," presented by CompTIA, a dynamic, vendor-neutral training program specifically designed to educate channel IT executives on how navigate the evolving IT market and remain relevant and competitive.

The comprehensive sessions featured topics including cloud computing, security, networking, storage, virtualization and wireless, among others, designed to address today's most pressing IT challenges and help attendees capture the next wave of IT. All sessions, vendor booths, and the Best Companies to Partner With Showcase will be available on-demand through May 2012 at www.comdexvirtual.com.

The TechTalk sessions, powered by UBM Studios, were also noted as a conference highlight. According to attendee feedback, these sessions provided an ideal opportunity to interact, in real time, with peers and speakers, ask questions and engage in lively discussions with some of today's leading IT vendors and solution providers. The dynamic environment designed by UBM Studios encouraged attendees to actively participate in the event and was noted as one of the most interesting and productive aspects of the conference. The same was true for the popular VAR Bar networking lounge, also powered by UBM Studios. The Bar was one of the most well attended areas and provided a dynamic forum to chat with peers, meet with CRN Editors, and click on virtual drinks to deplete and refill just for fun. The success of the VAR Bar underscores the continued value of networking, even in a virtual environment.

The Channel@Work initiative was a resounding success as attendees were invited to participate in the charity:water challenge. charity:water is a non-profit organization bringing clean and safe drinking water to people in developing nations. The money collected at COMDEXvirtual will build a water well that can serve a community of 250+ people. With a goal of raising $5,000, to date, Channel@Work has collected over $1,000, but there is still time to donate. Please visit: http://mycharitywater.org/comdex to learn more. Donations will be accepted through the end of the year.

"The continued success of COMDEXvirtual demonstrates an industry need for relevant and thoughtful content specifically designed to address the global channel community," said Robert Faletra, CEO, UBM Channel. "We are grateful to our sponsors and exhibitors who understand this need and contributed to the success of COMDEXvirtual, helping to educate and inspire our channel colleagues as we look to capture the next wave of IT."
