Milicruit Launches Perpetual Online Career Fair Due to Strong Demand by Employers and Veterans

Employers can now Schedule Their Own Online Career Fair Anytime VeteransCareerFair.com Calendar

Jul 13, 2011

CHICAGO, July 13, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Waste Management kicked off this initiative with its own virtual career day from 1-3 PM EDT, July 11. The session drew 739 military personnel and spouses in just 2 hours and generated 180 content downloads, 187 email exchanges with representatives and 286 chats. This 365 day event allows active-duty personnel, veterans and military spouses an opportunity to login at their convenience regardless of where they are located or deployed.  Employers can also reach out to job seekers as needed in addition to the scheduled quarterly virtual career fairs.

"I fielded some great questions and inquiries from a large number of veterans today and will be following up with them all in the next 48 hours," said Wes Reel, Disability & Military Recruiting and Outreach Programs, Waste Management. "Waste Management hires a veteran every day of the year and one in twelve of our employees is a veteran. Our Milicruit partner plays a big role in helping us attract quality talent."

"With the Veterans Opportunity to Work Act soon to pass, Milicruit is uniquely positioned to allow service members to connect with military-friendly employers without having to travel to a physical location.  In addition, many businesses who work with the federal government cannot accept resumes at in-person career fairs; this online solution gives job seekers the ability to submit their resumes directly online," said Kevin O'Brien, Vice President, Milicruit.  "We were privileged to roll out the new calendar feature with Waste Management as they continue to demonstrate a commitment to hiring qualified service members."

A calendar of all upcoming booth chats and special recruiting sessions can be found on veteranscareerfair.com and will be updated as more events are scheduled.  The perpetual online environment is open any time for registrants to apply to job postings, download information and leave messages for employers.  The interactive environment allows for real-time conversations with actual hiring managers rather than anonymous resume submissions.

Milicruit launched in April of 2010 with just over 3,000 attendees and 21 employers.  The last event, held July 23, featured 80 Fortune 1,000 employers and several federal agencies with over 21,000 visitors and 32,000 registrants. Milicruit will continue to host quarterly virtual career fairs in addition to employer and regional events throughout the year. Upcoming dates:

  • September 12, 2011 in recognition of the men and women who gave so much on 9/11 2001
  • November 11, 2011 in honor of Veterans Day

Regional events being with:

  • July 28, 2011 recruiting for positions in California, Oregon and Washington

All participating employers will be available and accepting applications during the posted events. All events are free to attend. One-time registration is required.
