UBM's Everything Channel Virtual Event Outlines the Latest Compliance Threats to the Channel Community

Presented in Virtual Seminar Center from UBM Studios

Jun 15, 2011

CHICAGO, June 15, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- UBM's Everything Channel presented "Protecting Customer Data and Growing your Security and Storage Practice" on May 23, 2011.  Targeted to the channel community, the event outlined the latest compliance mandates such as PCI 2.0, DATA, MA 201 CMR 17 and existing ones including HIPAA and ediscovery. In addition, it showcased the latest emerging threats and the products that VARs can sell to address user problems.  The event was presented in UBM Studios virtual seminar center.  UBM Studios leads the industry in world-class user engagement for virtual environments, social networking and gaming.

The virtual event drew 1,243 registrants and 459 live attendees.  On average attendees spent more than four hours in the virtual event.

Data is growing exponentially and being accessed through more unprotected devices and applications. Add to that concern is a raft of new and existing regulations around data protection. This spells a huge opportunity for VARs to create solutions to archive, classify, protect and manage data.  VARs are capitalizing on this by building and growing their storage and security practice.   According to Fast Growth 100 VARs, more than half their revenue is built around protecting data through selling storage and security technologies.

Attendees learned:

  • New risks from the evolving threat landscape including web 2.0 and the mobile workforce
  • How to communicate the threat and business impact to your customers
  • How to leverage compliance initiatives to get budget
  • What storage and security technologies can help solve these customer pain points
  • What are the opportunities around security and storage cloud offerings?

The events platinum sponsor was TrendMicro and silver sponsors included Kodak, Iomega, Norman Data Defense Systems and Strata Scale.
