Editorial Veteran, Patrick Mannion, Rejoins UBM Electronics as Content Director for EDN and Designlines

SAN FRANCISCO, May 25, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- UBM Electronics, a UBM company and the daily source of essential business and technical information for the electronics industry's decision makers, today announced that editorial veteran, Patrick Mannion, rejoins the company as Content Director for EDN and Designlines.  This newly created position is part of UBM Electronics' strategic focus on community and user engagement. Mannion will be responsible for overseeing EDN and Designlines, leading the integration of these brands as well as the development of the EDN website redesign.  In addition, he will work closely with sales, marketing and senior management to develop plans and strategies to grow EDN and Designlines, increase user registration and conversions and develop new revenue opportunities.

Mannion has over 20 years of editorial experience in the electronics OEM media industry.  Previously, Mannion was the Director of Content at Hearst Electronics Group.  During his ten year tenure with UBM, Mannion was responsible for the editorial direction of UBM Electronics' design and products network, for both online and print, which included the Designline network, PlanetAnalog, CommsDesign.com and EE Times' Design and Products sections, as well as editorial webinars, educational courses and the "Fundamentals of…" series. He was also responsible for managing the Under the Hood print/online teardown series. Prior, Mannion served as the editor and an executive editor of EE Times.  Earlier in his career, Mannion served as communications editor at Electronic Design magazine and a staff editor with Electronic Products magazine. Mannion earned electronic engineering degrees from the Sligo Institute of Technology and Dundalk Institute of Technology, both in Ireland.
