Mar 15, 2011

CHICAGO, March 15, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- On March 10, 2011, over 60 employers supported the Veterans Virtual Career Fair, produced by Milicruit. Companies like Deutsche Bank, Dr. Pepper Snapple Group, Travelers, and Pepsi Beverages Company participated in the virtual career fair offering job opportunities to more than 18,000 military veterans and spouses. The virtual career fair represents over 13,000 jobs available.  The Veterans Virtual Career Fair was powered by UBM Studios.  On average, attendees visited 17 booths with an average dwell time of 103 minutes.

According to a Milicruit survey, virtual career fairs win with military job seekers. These results validate that virtual career fairs are an efficient, cost effective and eco-friendly way for recruiters to recruit and job seekers to secure employment. Ninety-five percent of attendees found the virtual career fair useful; 97 percent found it easy to use; 86 percent are satisfied with the participating employers; 96 percent would participate again; and 92 percent would recommend the virtual career fair to others.

"Hundreds of thousands of veterans return every year from deployments and look to re-enter the civilian job market and veterans bring with them a strong work ethic, exceptional training and proven leadership skills. The number of job seekers that attended and the length of time that they participated in the event showcase the large number of veterans that are out of work and the vital importance of virtual career fairs targeted to military veterans," said Kevin O'Brien, Vice President, Business Development, Milicruit.

The Veterans Virtual Career Fair, which is free of charge to job seekers, is open to all active duty personnel, veterans and military spouses. Veterans and their spouses can register for virtual career fair by building a profile, while employers can fully interact with the veteran job seekers.  The virtual career fair offers booths, job postings, company videos/presentations, live chat with company representatives, video interviewing as well as resume and interview assistance.  To view a video tour on how the service works click here.
