Big East Career Consortium Partnered With UBM Studios-Unicruit for the Big East Virtual Career Fair, Targeted to College Students and Alumni Seeking Employment

CHICAGO, Dec. 2, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- The Big East Virtual Career Fair (www.bigeastcareerfair.com) was held on November 10, 2010, which brought more than 40 industry leading employers and government agencies as well as college students and alumni from 16 participating Big East schools together in a fully interactive online environment.

The virtual career fair drew over 7,300 visitors to employer booths with the average dwell time of 77 minutes.  In addition, each attendee visited approximately 12 booths.

The Big East Career Consortium selected Unicruit to deliver the virtual career fair.  The 16 Big East schools that participated in the Big East Virtual Career Fair included Cincinnati, Connecticut, DePaul, Georgetown, Louisville, Marquette, Notre Dame, Pittsburgh, Providence, Rutgers, St. John's, Seton Hall, South Florida, Syracuse, Villanova and West Virginia.  

Over 40 organizations committed to helping with the alarming high rate college students and alumni face participated at the Big East Virtual Career Fair.  They included: ABC Supply Co., Inc.; ACS, a Xerox Company; ADP; Advanced Technology Services, Inc. (ATS); Amazon;  AON Corporation; Batesville; Children's Place; City Year; Comerica; ConocoPhillips; Education Pioneers; First Investors Corp.; GEICO; Graybar; Hertz Corporation; IBM; ING DIRECT; Lockheed Martin; ManTech; Math for America; Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center; National Guard; National Security Agency; OpenLink Financial; P&G; Peace Corps; Performance Results Corporation; Progressive; Prudential; Sears Holding Corp; Sypris Electronics; Tek Systems; The Institute of Internal Auditors; T-Mobile; Uniexpat, Inc.; US Customs and Border Protection; US Space and Rocket Center; Vanguard; Verizon Wireless; and Waste Management.  The employers represented jobs from manufacturing to retail to telecommunications.

In the virtual career fair students and alumni visited employer booths, viewed and applied for jobs, uploaded resumes, chatted with recruiters, and networked with peers all from the comfort and convenience of home or dorm.  Since the career fair is virtual, it is cost effective, time efficient and environmentally friendly.  In addition, no travel is required, therefore, the virtual career fair offers opportunities for individuals all over the country and provides employers with a wider talent pool.
