Oct 4, 2010

SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- EE Times Group, a UBM company and the daily source of essential business and technical information for the electronic industry's decision makers, today announced the launch of EBN (www.ebnonline.com), the market-leading interactive community site for senior executives, managers, financial analysts, and other professionals involved in managing supply chain activities in the high-tech equipment sector.

EBN, formerly known as Electronics Buyer's News was one of the first publications to track the industry supply chain. The publication focused on the electronics supply chain and provided critical market information on all players in the electronics industry.

"Recent events in the electronics industry and continuing tensions in the global economy have made it extremely difficult for equipment manufacturers and their extended suppliers to determine demand for their products or develop the right supply chain to support their operations, hence the need for a resource center and community such as EBN," stated EE Times Group CEO Paul Miller. "I am also very pleased that we are breaking new ground by launching the new EBN as a professional, community-based site with an active and vibrant set of discussions on the Website. The early support from the industry has been overwhelmingly positive. I believe that we have the right product at the right time, covering the issues that are on everybody's mind in the industry."

EBN's mission is to create an environment where all players in the supply chain OEMs, electronic manufacturing services providers, engineers, component distributors, component manufacturers, logistics firms, procurement professionals, supply chain management software developers, and other third-party service providers can identify opportunities, share best practices, find solutions to challenges and problems, get information about companies they do business with, and engage in conversations about their field in a professional environment. Original content offered by EBN editors will be supplemented by contributions from industry executives, analysts, and other experts.

"In many cases companies don't compete; their supply chains do," noted Michael Kirschner, CEO of Design Chain Associates. "Today, product design, procurement, manufacturing, sales, logistics, outsourcing, environmental regulations, supply-demand, and allocation often occur not just in different countries but also on separate continents, further complicating the management and coordination of already complicated processes and functions. EBN will help spark the necessary discussions among all players in the market."

EBN's editorial team is led by Editor in Chief Bolaji Ojo and Community Editor Barbara Jorgensen, two veterans of the electronics industry with combined journalism experience of more than four decades.

Ojo has spent the last 25 years covering business issues on four continents, specializing over the last 11 years on the electronics industry supply chain. In addition to supply chain issues, his primary focus also includes business finance. He previously worked as Editor in Chief of Electronics Supply and Manufacturing Magazine and Business Editor for EE Times and Electronic Buyer's News.

Jorgensen has more than 20 years experience as a business journalist, working for leading electronics industry publications such as Electronic Business, Electronic Buyer's News, and EDN. As a freelance writer, Jorgensen wrote and managed an award-winning custom publication for Sager Electronics; was a leading contributor to Avnet Global Perspectives magazine; and was a regular columnist for the National Electronics Distributors Association monthly newsletter. Jorgensen was also a featured blogger on the B2B Website, Allbusiness.com, and helped launch Electronics Sourcing North America, a startup magazine serving purchasing professionals in the Americas.
