Everything Channel, the premier provider of IT channel-focused events, media, research, consulting, and sales and marketing services, is proud to sponsor a Girls in Tech Boston networking event on August 10th for women in technology. The networking event will take place at Big Papi's Grille in Framingham, MA, and will provide a chance for local women in the technology sector to collaborate and connect with other professionals in the area. All ticket proceeds will go directly to the Science Club for Girls, a group that connects women in science, technology, engineering and mathematics with almost 1,000 girls in the greater Boston area in an effort to increase the confidence of the girls and encourage female participation in the typically male-dominated field of science.

"As a female executive at a technology company, I know first hand the challenges women face in a predominantly male industry," said Miriam Kutcher, VP of Marketing, Everything Channel. "Everything Channel is excited to provide support for the Science Club for Girls and Girls in Tech, and we encourage other local executives to attend and network with colleagues in this worthwhile manner."

According to the National Council for Research on Women, women constitute 45 percent of the workforce in the U.S., but hold just 12 percent of science and engineering jobs in business and industry. With women continuing to be concentrated in fields that historically have been dominated by females, such as education, groups like Girls in Tech Boston and the Science Club for Girls are working diligently to address this disparity by encouraging young women to pursue degrees in areas such as science and technology. One local eighth grade girl had the following to say about the benefits of the Science Club for Girls, "I didn't think I had the brains to become a scientist but over the last few semesters, I learned it doesn't matter what your race, age, or appearance is. It's about having friends and peers to encourage you through your goal, Science Club for Girls made me realize that I have the power and the knowledge to become a scientist."

"We're really excited to engage with Science Club for Girls and support a great, local organization committed to building self-confidence, sisterhood and science literacy in young women," says Heather K. Margolis, Managing Director of Girls in Tech. "As a volunteer organization, we greatly appreciate the support we get from sponsors such as Everything Channel that allow us to then give back to other organizations committed to encouraging women and girls to pursue interests in the fields of science and technology."

Girls in Tech Boston would like to thank Big Papi's Grille for offering complimentary space and discounted fare for this networking event. For more information and to register for the event, please visit http://gitboston4scfg.eventbrite.com/

About Girls in Tech

Girls in Tech is a volunteer social network enterprise focused on the engagement, education and empowerment of like-minded, professional, intelligent and influential women in technology. As young women with the capacity to inspire, we made it our personal desire and passion to create and sustain an organization that focuses on the collaboration, promotion, growth and success of women in the technology sector.

Created in February of 2007, 'Girls in Tech' (GIT) was founded by Adriana Gascoigne. GIT and was born out of a need to provide a place for women to cultivate ideas around their careers and business concepts involving technology.
