BERLIN, July 27 /PRNewswire/ -- David Cage, CEO and founder of Paris-based developer Quantic Dream, creators of the renowned adventure games Omikron: The Nomad Soul and Fahrenheit (Indigo Prophecy in North America) and of the highly anticipated 2010 title Heavy Rain, will deliver a keynote at this year's Game Developers Conference® Europe (GDC Europe). Cage's keynote address, titled "Writing Interactive Narrative for a Mature Audience," will focus on why mature games are necessary, what difficulties these developers face, and will expose possible solutions and techniques in interactive storytelling.

"I am excited to participate at GDC Europe and to represent France in such a well-rounded European keynote roster," said Cage. "With the game audience maturing, we feel it's important to share visions and ideas to define how our industry should now evolve. I am convinced more than ever that the most important next gen feature is emotion. How to trigger more complex emotions is our biggest challenge in the coming years."

As writer, director and founder of Quantic Dream, Cage has developed a unique creative vision for the studio based on emotion and innovation. He wrote and directed 2000's Omikron: The Nomad Soul and 2005's Fahrenheit (Indigo Prophecy in North America). Prior to Quantic Dream, he worked as a freelance musician, composing original soundtracks for games published by Sony, Microsoft, Vivendi, Atari and Eidos, among others.

"It is an honour to have a presence from Quantic Dream at GDC Europe," said Frank Sliwka, Vice President European Business Development of Think Services Game Group. "Cage and his team are known for delivering top-quality games that are acclaimed worldwide, and the entire industry is looking forward to next year's Heavy Rain. I think it's safe to say that all GDC Europe attendees can expect an inspiring and thought provoking keynote on a topic not often addressed."

Cage is the latest addition to the GDC Europe keynote line-up, which includes:

  • Klaas Kersting, CEO, Gameforge - "Changes in the Games Industry - Free-to-play vs. Payment Models"
  • Matias Myllyrinne, Managing Director, Remedy - "From Max Payne to Alan Wake: Creating Intellectual Properties the Remedy Way"
  • Hilmar Petursson, CEO, CCP - "CCP: Winning the War"
  • Cevat Yerli, CEO and President, Crytek - "The Future of Gaming Graphics"

GDC Europe will take place August 17-19 at the Cologne Congress East Center in Cologne, Germany in conjunction with gamescom. Conference attendees wishing to take advantage of the early bird registration rate should register by July 29.
