SAN FRANCISCO, July 1 /PRNewswire/ -- With rapid development of the Chinese animation, comics, and game exhibition industry offerings (herein referred to as A.C.G.), the Ministry of Culture of the P.R. of China (MOC) has installed a new event approval process to ensure healthy growth of these industries in China. Moving forward, foreign and international A.C.G. exhibitions and trading activities must receive approval from provincial culture administration authorities, and finally, the Ministry of Culture itself. The 2009 Game Developers Conference China (GDC China) is the first game developer event to secure official MOC endorsement for its 2nd conference dedicated to the art, science and business of making games. GDC China, presented by Think Services, a Division of United Business Media, returns to the Shanghai Convention Center, October 11-13 of this year.

With the accelerated growth of the animation, comic and game industries, China has also experienced an over proliferation of events serving these industries as well as industry events that have become too big, wasteful, and unfocused. Some of these events support illegal invitations to foreign groups as well as illegal displays of content. The goal of the MOC is to provide better regulations for these growing fields, and to ensure that business continues through robust event and professional networking activity, but under correct and ethical direction.

"The GDC is proud to be the only game industry event officially endorsed by the Ministry of Culture," said GDC China event director Meggan Scavio. "It is no surprise given the global reputation the GDC has built over 20+ years of presenting quality content and serving the game development community that the MOC recognizes us as the official developer event in China. Our collaboration seeks to champion the best interests of the Chinese development community and its future growth."
