SAN FRANCISCO, Aug. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- The Game Developers Conference China (GDC China), taking place August 27-29, 2007 at the Shanghai International Convention Center, announced today the addition of two keynote presenters to its already strong line-up of influential Chinese and Western speakers. Hosted by the CMP Game Group -- the premier provider of events, services and media to the games industry -- and leading technology, media and events company, IDG, GDC China will offer an insider's viewpoint of the game business in China.

In "Embracing Disruption," his keynote address for the Online Game Development and Business Track, Greg Short, Director of Platform Product Development at Sony Online Entertainment (SOE), will share his insights on the online game development sector in China and its future direction. Short currently oversees the strategic and tactical roadmap for SOE's web-based technologies and services and is the driving force behind SOE's industry leading data driven web sites and Station Players™ services. Short was hired by SOE in 2004 to lead efforts in the production of comprehensive player and community services for EverQuest II.

"The Possibilities and Perils of Production Outsourcing and How it's Changing the Way Games Are Made," the keynote for the Outsourcing and Next Generation games track, will be presented by Paul Meegan, CEO and Co-founder of Epic Games China. Meegan will explore how AAA quality and fresh creativity are empowering publishers and independent developers to make more money making better games for less. Meegan will share his thoughts on successful outsourcing practices, building a studio in China, and the challenges that lie ahead.

"Greg Short and Paul Meegan, two of the biggest names in the games business, will provide attendees a great perspective of the games market from both a western and Chinese point of view," said Meggan Scavio, Senior Conference Manager, GDC China. "With our first-class line-up of speakers, combined with the support shown from the developer and publisher community, GDC China is set to become a mainstay of the Chinese games industry calendar."

GDC China's content is programmed by an advisory board consisting of local Chinese developers who share a commitment to promoting and supporting their country's game industry. In conjunction with the top-level conference schedule, the event will also offer attendees the chance to explore the Tools Display Expo and Career Fair, where they will network with some of the premier names in the Chinese and international game industry. Exhibitors include Ubisoft, Epic Games China, Nokia, NVIDIA, Electronic Arts (EA), IGS, Winking Entertainment, XPec, Shanghai ZiZhu, and more.
