MANHASSET, N.Y., June 11 /PRNewswire/ -- The People's Republic of China's General Administration of Press and Publication (GAPP) and CMP Technology, a targeted media and marketing solutions company serving the builders, sellers and buyers of technology worldwide, will co-sponsor photography exhibits about "China Today" concurrently at the Harvard University Asia Center and Lesley University's Marran Gallery in Cambridge, MA from July 16 through August 16.

The two exhibits will showcase 50 works by leading contemporary Chinese photographers, which have all been selected from Chinese magazine and book publishing houses. The exhibits will premier rarely seen images of modern China's economic and social development to the U.S. public, covering subjects from lifestyle, culture and arts to natural landscapes and ethnic diversity.

Mr. Sun Shoushan, Vice Minister of the General Administration of Press and Publishing, The People's Republic of China, and Steve Weitzner, President and Chief Executive Officer, CMP Technology, together will unveil the photography exhibit on Monday, July 16.

"One of the objectives of this exhibit is to show the American general public -- particularly the younger generation -- some photographic interpretations and expressions of modern China. The exhibit will also feature the Chinese books and magazines which publish these amazing photos," noted Zhang Fuhai, Director General, the Foreign Exchange and Cooperation Department of China's General Administration of Press and Publication. "We encourage interested American publishers to translate these compelling books into English and publish them in the United States. We also hope that through this exhibit, more American publishers, as well as the American general public, can better understand the Chinese publishing industry and support its development."

"We are delighted to work with the China's General Administration of Press and Publication in hosting this exhibit at both Lesley and Harvard Universities," Mr. Weitzner said. "As a leading global media company, we actively support the progressive work of this ministry to promote original perspectives on Modern China. This photography exhibit represents a unique opportunity for American media, book and magazine publishers -- and the general public as a whole -- to gain first hand insights of contemporary life in China."

The official opening for the event will take place at Harvard's Asia Center, in collaboration with the Fairbank Center for Chinese Studies, CGIS South Building, 1730 Cambridge Street, and at the Marran Gallery, Mellen Street near Oxford Street on the Main Quadrangle, at Lesley University on Monday, July 16. The exhibit is open to the public and free of charge. The gallery hours at both locations are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Thursday, August 16. The Chinese organizer for the exhibition is the China National Publications Import and Export Corp.
