SAN FRANCISCO, May 8 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- After posting a solid 12% advertising page increase in 2006, CMP Technology's Dr Dobb's Journal, recognized worldwide as the leading resource for the professional software development community, has posted a 43% year-over-year increase in advertising pages through the April 2007 issue according to Inquiry Management Systems (IMS).

Dr. Dobb's Journal ran 175 paid advertising pages through the April 2007 issue, versus 122 pages in the same period in 2006. The 53 page year-over-year increase translates into a 43% growth in pages and a 39% share-of-market increase. The nearest competitor posted a 10% increase in the same period -- while most other publications in the competitive set saw a decline.

"We're extremely pleased with the spectacular performance of our print product," said VP/Group Publisher Kerry Gates. "This comes on the heels of overwhelming success of the Dr. Dobb's Event Group's recently held SD West 2007 Conference, as well as global expansion led by the inaugural SD Best Practices efforts in both India and Russia," Gates continued.

"The continued growth of the Dr. Dobb's brand, including our network of online and digital products, has been outstanding," said Paul Miller, President, CMP Technology Innovators Group." Our Dr. Dobb's brand is a fully integrated, cross-media marketing solution. It's clear that the changes we put in place last year have resonated with our marketing partners."

With plans to publish two additional editorial supplements later this year (Web 2.0 Development in August, and Application Lifecycle Management in October) -- and efforts already underway to build out innovative new on-line platforms and marketing solutions to reach the entire software development buying team -- such as the innovative Life2.0 Summit on Second Life -- Dr. Dobb's is committed to providing marketing partners with creative and actionable solutions to reach the industry's most authoritative audience of software development professionals -- the architects, development managers and senior developers who recommend, specify and authorize the purchasing decisions for a wide variety of tools, technologies, platforms and products.
