SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- The 2007 Austin Game Developers Conference, presented by the CMP Game Group, host of the industry-leading Game Developers Conference (GDC), will take place September 5-7, 2007 at the Austin Convention Center in Austin, Texas. Building off the success of the Austin Game Conference, which CMP acquired in October 2006, and utilizing the same date, location, and advisory board, Austin GDC will feature four main conference tracks. The four tracks will be dedicated to online games, audio for games, writing for games and a new People's Choice track featuring the sessions community members want to see most. Austin GDC will also feature a Game Career Seminar for students and job-changers researching entry into the game industry, and a Career Fair for experienced game developers seeking new job opportunities.

Through the online games track, the Austin GDC will address the hottest issues affecting online games including MMOs, virtual worlds, and other online-enabled titles, both identifying future trends while breaking down misconceptions and using the strong Austin base of online game professionals. Through the audio for games track, attendees will share best practices and techniques for recording and enhancing sound for games. Through the writing for games track, industry professionals will be inspired by writers who have crafted characters and written stories for epic games and at the same time will hear from authors in cross-disciplinary fields. Austin GDC supporters will also be invited to vote for the sessions they would like to see most in the all-new People's Choice track, which will be built entirely from submitted proposals with the highest-rankings accepted into the conference.

"The Austin GDC offers top tier content, and it will also give industry professionals a chance to meet and network with like-minded game developers. Though the Austin GDC community is anchored regionally, it reaches a national -- and international -- audience," noted Jane Pinckard, conference manager. "We're looking forward to the chance to improve upon the great work that has been done in Austin, and to grow the community and the event while maintaining its core values."

The strength of the Austin GDC will be built on the deep resources garnered from its association with the CMP Game Group, the leading games industry media group dedicated to editorial integrity, industry growth, facilitating strategic partnerships, networking, and education. The Group will bring its editorial breadth of knowledge and experience from the GDC and its editorial products including the Webby Award winning Gamasutra.com and Game Developer Magazine. It will also leverage CMP's expert conference and event management experience, marketing resources, and exhibitor support from the industry-defining GDC. The experienced advisory board composed of leaders in their fields will guide the event's commitment to high quality education, exploration of innovation, and the nurturing of the game development community.

Session content, speaker guidelines, registration information, and sales opportunities will be available in March. Be sure to check the website at that time: http://www.austingame.com/.
