MANHASSET, N.Y., Jan. 19 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- The CMP Channel Group's GovernmentVAR magazine has enhanced its offerings to advertisers and readers in response to growing demand for IT solutions in the public sector and the increased need for information among government and education integrators and developers. The GovernmentVAR brand is set for continued growth in 2007, following significant strides made in all platforms during the previous year.

During 2006, the magazine's frequency increased to 12 issues annually, up from 10. Additionally, its content was recognized for excellence as GovernmentVAR won its first ASBPE Gold Award for "NYPD Tech," a case history published in September 2005. GovernmentVAR was also selected as a finalist for this year's prestigious Neal Awards competition for an investigative report written by Senior Editor Jill Aitoro.

VARBusiness Publisher Robert C. DeMarzo said GovernmentVAR's circulation for 2007 surged to record levels which will provide advertisers a 12-percent circulation bonus. The increase comes as a result of solution providers' deeper involvement in selling to all segments of the public sector market including state, local, federal, education, defense, homeland security, GovernmentVAR's new rate base is now 71,013 up from GovernmentVAR's June 2006 BPA-audited rate base of 63,406. * Source: Publishers data: January 2007.

GovernmentVAR's newly appointed Associate Publisher Susan Pienkos-Kostbar explains that the June 2006 BPA-audited rate base is 63,406 subscribers selling into the federal, state and local government and education markets. However, the publisher's data shows circulation of 71,013 in December 2006.

"We are thrilled to present this additional circulation to our advertisers and equally excited by the achievements that the uptick represents," Pienkos- Kostbar says.

Pienkos-Kostbar notes that XChange Government Integrator, the cornerstone of the brand's face-to-face marketing offering, doubled in size. In addition, the Government Channel Leadership forum, launched in conjunction with the Institute for Partner Education & Development; two more are planned for 2007. The new year also will see the debut of a GovernmentVAR 100 event, along with State and Local Road Shows in key locations around the United States at which technology manufacturers and distributors can sponsor full days of education and networking.

In 2006, GovernmentVAR.com was relaunched bringing more government IT professionals than ever to the targeted web site for daily updates and input from the magazine's editors. The 2006 launch of GovernmentVAR TV created custom advertorial video segments during which company executives are interviewed. Rounding out GovernmentVAR's online growth, 2006 saw the e- newsletter GovernmentVAR Insider double its publication frequency to twice weekly and boost its circulation to over 30,000 opt-in subscribers.

"As the 'offspring' of VARBusiness magazine, which has been covering the government channel for nearly 20 years, GovernmentVAR is preeminent in its ability to reach and inform solution providers and integrators selling into that market," says Editor Lawrence M. Walsh. "With its multiple platforms, the brand is unsurpassed in delivering that audience to technology marketers."
