SAN FRANCISCO, Nov. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- O'Reilly Media, Inc. and CMP Technology today jointly announced the opening of registration for the Web 2.0 Expo, set for April 15-18, 2007, at the Moscone Center in San Francisco. The new trade show and conference will expand on the core themes of the Web 2.0 Summit and reach out to a wider audience of technical, design, marketing, and business professionals who are building the next generation web. Simultaneously, O'Reilly and CMP announced that the Web 2.0 Conference has been re-named Web 2.0 Summit to reflect its emergence as the Internet industry's premier event, connecting the top leaders and technologists who are driving the web economy. This change also distinguishes it from Web 2.0 Expo, which will feature an extensive five-track conference.

"The Web 2.0 Summit will retain its intimate setting and interactive format, mixing audience networking with a compelling mix of great content, including the top thinkers on the Internet," said John Battelle, Web 2.0 Summit Program Chair. "In 2007, the Web 2.0 Summit will return under the new name to define how the Web will drive business in the future, just as we are doing here this week."

Web 2.0 Expo is a companion event to the third annual Web 2.0 Summit, which concludes on November 9 at the Palace Hotel in San Francisco. Limited in size and focused on business strategy and networking, the by-invitation-only Web 2.0 Summit has completely sold out again this year, with far greater demand than the event can accommodate. Web 2.0 Expo will expand on the core themes of the Summit and reach out to a much wider audience.

Web 2.0 Expo is designed to be the major annual gathering of the technical, design, marketing, and business professionals who are building the next generation web. The event will have three major components: a five-track educational conference, including both traditional seminar formats and elements of peer-to-peer learning; a major tradeshow showcasing the sellers of tools, technologies, services and infrastructure; and networking and other events targeted at internet entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, and business development executives. Additional information on Web 2.0 Expo conference content, registration information, and promotional opportunities is available at http://www.web2-0expo.com/.
