SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- The Game Developers Conference (GDC), now entering its 20th year, returns to the Moscone Convention Center in San Francisco, to better serve the needs of the event's evolving reach. The annual conference dedicated to the art, science, and business of games will take place March 5 - 9, 2007. This year's theme, "Take Control," reflects that the time is now for attendees to gain the knowledge and to seize opportunities enabled through next-generation platforms and the diversification in videogame play. The speaker line-up, session descriptions, and registration are available online at http://www.gdconf.com/. Press registration is also currently open.

More than 12,500 game industry professionals, including 1,000 members of the working press, will convene during GDC, the world's largest games industry-only event dedicated to the advancement of resources, tools, and technologies used to create interactive entertainment. The CMP Game Group, organizers of the conference, increased both the conference capacity and expo show floor size for this year's event. This growth provides more opportunities for developers, tools and service providers, publishers, and key industry players, accommodating the need for a comprehensive, one-stop shop game creation event.

"Since its humble beginning 20 years ago, the primary purpose of the GDC has been and will continue to be to provide a rich environment for presenting and sharing the secrets of creating better games," said Jamil Moledina, executive director of the Game Developers Conference. "The mechanism for this is an editorially selected and deeply specialized menu of sessions, which further drives the quality of the expo floor experience and the networking events of the overall show. The GDC 2007 website launched today provides a first look at the program we are building, designed primarily to empower individual game creators with hands on development details and unveilings of bold breakthroughs -- with the goal of sparking the innovation potential borne from the timely alignment of the entire game industry ecosystem."

The GDC will feature more than 350 conference sessions, GDC Booth Crawl, Suite Night, East Meets West reception, and other dedicated networking events for developers, publishers, and serious, casual, and mobile companies. The week long event will feature the GDC Expo, GDC Mobile, the Serious Games Summit GDC, the Independent Games Festival (IGF), the Game Developers Choice Awards, and Game Connection.

GDC 2007 will also see the addition of a casual/independent games reception and an Independent Games Summit to augment the IGF, the oldest and most prestigious game innovation laboratory. The entire Game Developers Conference continues to focus on delivering learning, inspiration, and networking opportunities to all the individuals who make games.
