Sales and Marketing Veterans to Expand CMP's Advertising Base and Strengthen Brand

MANHASSET, N.Y., Aug. 16 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- CMP Technology, a marketing solutions company serving the technology industry, announced today that it has hired John Cox, former TechTarget vice president of Sales, and Lisa Johnson, former TechTarget vice president of Marketing. Having spent his early career in CMP Sales management, Cox returns to CMP to spearhead the Company's strategic initiative to expand its already formidable customer base to include a larger number of small and medium-sized businesses. Johnson is charged with strengthening and aligning the CMP Technology brand with its media properties, including 100 publications, 150 events and 200 web sites that serve the information needs of 8 million business technology professionals.

John Cox brings more than 25 years of business-to-business sales and sales management experience to his role as vice president Account Development for the company's Business Technology Group, well known for its InformationWeek, Network Computing and Optimize brands. Previously, Cox served as vice president of sales at TechTarget where he managed revenue creation and growth, including major site sponsorships, online advertising, targeted e-messaging, webcasts, print magazines and invitation-only conferences.

Prior to that, Cox had an extensive tenure with CMP. As national director for CMP Technology's Business Technology Group, Cox managed a sales team responsible for a targeted portfolio of six publications along with online sites and events. In 1990, as national sales manager of Network Computing, Cox was instrumental in driving the "real world labs-based publication" to its preeminent industry position. He also held key sales and management positions at EE Times and Electronics Buyers' News, market leaders in the company's electronics industry portfolio. Cox reports to Jeff Patterson, President of CMP Technology's Business Technology Group.

Lisa Johnson brings more than 20 years' experience to her role as senior vice president of Marketing at CMP Technology. Previously, Johnson served as vice president of corporate marketing at TechTarget. In addition to running corporate marketing, Johnson created TechTarget's Client Consulting Services group and architected the Company's Audience Development efforts. Johnson reports to Weitzner.

Prior to TechTarget, Johnson was a director at Viant where she worked with clients to develop online marketing programs and digital businesses in addition to spearheading the company's branding and marketing efforts. She joined Viant after serving as vice president and group director of the Interactive Communications Group at Young & Rubicam's WCJ division. Her clients included American Express, Apple Computer, AT&T and Sears. Previously, Johnson was a senior analyst at LINK Resources, an IDC Research company, where she managed a consulting program serving the telecommunications, online and media industries. Johnson has also held interactive marketing positions as Modem Media and Cendant Corporation.
