CMP Media's First-TV is beta testing the newest version of the VivoActive streaming audio and video on its Internet-only TV/video network.

CMP's First-TV and LifeOnline Radio (http://www.lifeonlineradio.com/) sites are the first to use VivoActive Player 2.0. The new version of Vivo's streaming video doubles First-TV's present frame size, gives content creators the opportunity to control the shape of the video window, and offers improved audio.

"Vivo has significantly raised the standard with the 2.0 version," says Scott Bourne, executive director and founder of First-TV. "Other streaming technologies can't penetrate fire walls and don't offer the viewer a true 28.8 video and audio experience. We will use this technology to deliver the best video available on the Internet."

An ActiveX controller automatically downloads the VivoActive player for visitors to the site who use Microsoft Explorer. Netscape users can download VivoActive free at the Vivo site (http://www.vivo.com/).

First-TV (http://www.first-tv.com/) was launched Sept. 18, 1996. Its first program -- Fresh Click: Life Online -- is comprised of seven segments covering Internet news, product reviews and Internet personalities. Segments include Web Wars, a debate between two Internet experts over issues of the day, and Web Women, a look at what women are doing on the web.

Besides producing original content, First-TV is a forum for emerging videographers and filmmakers, who can submit their work at no charge. First-TV gives the film community a world-wide audience, and visitors to the site can view the films and videos and rate them.
