CMP Media's TechWeb, the network for Business Technology professionals with purchasing power, (http://www.techweb.com/), today announced Fredric Paul has been promoted to editor-in-chief of TechWeb. Mr. Paul has more than 20 years of experience developing print and online content that helps individuals and enterprises understand and use technology.

Mr. Paul, who joined TechWeb in July 2001 as Executive Editor, is responsible for TechWeb's content and day-to-day operations. Since arriving at TechWeb, Mr. Paul has been deeply involved in the growth of contextual resources from the entire TechWeb network of sites.

Last June, CMP Media re-launched TechWeb as an intelligent browser, packaging content from other CMP properties into contextually relevant resources designed to help business technology professionals locate the information that will help them make better business technology decisions. For example, the "Today on TechWeb" featured story section, conceived by Mr. Paul, provides TechWeb visitors with a daily dose of all the important and relevant information they need about specific hot topics.

"We are thrilled and excited at the enhancements Fred has made to TechWeb over the past several months. His online experience coupled with his knowledge of business technology makes him an ideal fit for TechWeb," said Mike Azzara, Director, Content Development, Business Technology Group, CMP Media LLC.

Mr. Paul's online experience began in 1995 as executive editor of the CNET's flagship CNET.com site and continued as founding editor of CNET Builder.com. After CNET, he spent almost two years as vice president of Content/Programming for AllBusiness.com, which was acquired by NBC Internet Inc. Since leaving AllBusiness.com, Mr. Paul has worked with a variety of high-profile companies, including PC World magazine and MIT Sloan Management Review.

From 1996 to 1998, Mr. Paul and his CNET staff collected three successive Computer Press Awards for Best Online How-To. Prior to CNET.com, Mr. Paul was editor in chief of IDG's Electronic Entertainment magazine, which chronicled the rise of the CD-ROM and computer-game industries. Mr. Paul's print career includes senior positions at a long list of business technology magazines, including PC World Lotus Edition, PC/Computing, and High Technology Business.
