CMP Media's Internet Media Group today unveiled GamePowerâ„¢ (http://www.gamepower.com/) -- a community for highly passionate PC, Macintosh, Sony Playstation, Sega Saturn and Nintendo 64 video game enthusiasts.

"Fervent gamers are indeed a unique breed," said "Game Master" Paul Hyman, the site's Editor. "Most of the time they're either on the lookout for the latest tactic -- no matter how minute -- that will propel them to the next level, or they're shopping for their next electronic challenge. We designed GamePower to be the place on the Net for these enthusiasts to fulfill their quest for all that is gaming."

Chief among GamePower's features are its exhaustive game reviews, organized both by category and also in a searchable database. Each game the site's editorial staff reviews is ranked from zero ("don't even think about it") to four lightning bolts (a "must buy"). Gamers seeking other opinions about products can also rely on GamePower's "Another Dozen Opinions" for the skinny on how the product has been received on other game sites and in major gaming magazines. They can also get input from the Anders CD-ROM Guide -- a Zagat's-style survey of CD-ROM users that details their collective take on hundreds of PC and Macintosh games.

Beyond reviews, GamePower also features an extensive array of cheats and hints, a threaded chat area where gamers can voice their opinion about games they love or despise, as well as walk-thrus that offer step-by-step details on how to complete strategy and adventure oriented challenges.

The site will have an accompanying print component in CMP's HomePC beginning in the publication's May issue. In print, GamePower will include a select round-up of reviews by "Games Goddess" Julie Cohen Strasberg, HomePC Senior Editor/Entertainment, as well as a multitude of tips that enhance game play, and "head-to-head" comparisons of two games in the same category. The GamePower Web site is also accessible via a link from HomePC's home page at http://www.homepc.com/.
