CMP Media announced today that Michael Goodman has recently accepted the position as Publisher of Dr. Dobb's Journal, the world's most trusted magazine for professional software developers. Goodman is known for his skills in managing technology brands across multiple media. He is replacing former Publisher Tim Trickett, who leaves CMP after 17 years of service to pursue new opportunities, and reports to Peter Westerman, Vice President and Group Publisher of Software Development Media.

Westerman states, "It is a pleasure having Goodman back on our team. He is a true asset to the industry and to Dr. Dobb's Journal." Westerman added, "Goodman's proven ability to create unique, effective marketing programs and partnerships across various media has earned him great respect among high-tech marketers."

Goodman has worked on many major brands in technology media, including Dr. Dobb's Journal in the mid-80s. He comes to the magazine from O'Reilly Media, where he was Director of Corporate Sales. His professional experience includes Vice President and General Manager of NetWorld+Interop, Executive Vice President of Marketing and Business Development for ZD Events and Worldwide Director of Marketing for the Intel Developer Forums while at Carlsen Marketing. He has held publication management positions at PC Magazine, PC Computing, and LAN Technology. Goodman also recently provided consulting services to E3, IDG, Gartner and CeBIT.

"It is a privilege returning to Dr. Dobb's Journal," Goodman said recently. "The languages, tools and technologies of software development have improved dramatically over the years, but what has not changed is the commitment and passion developers have to their profession, and to Dr. Dobb's Journal."

Goodman also says he will be traveling frequently, and looks forward to meeting with Dr. Dobb's Journal readers, advertisers and partners.
