CMP Media's (NASDAQ: CMPX) Network Computing, the premier networking products and solutions publication, today announced the June 30 launch of its new "Security Solution Center," an online portal, and Security Express, a newsletter providing targeted, timely, accurate and relevant security solutions and services for IT professionals.

"Security vulnerabilities are a top priority for IT professionals who are responsible for the assessment, warning, investigation and response to threats or attacks against their critical enterprise infrastructures," Brad Shimmin, Network Computing's online director, said at NetWorld+Interop in Las Vegas. "Security Solution Center and Security Express will help IT managers avoid security breaches and better protect their corporations' crucial information- technology assets," he added.

Security Solution Center (http://www.networkcomputing.com/security/) will bring together the latest and most relevant security content of several leading technology publications including Network Computing and CMP sister publications InternetWeek and InformationWeek as well as the resources of CMPNet, TechWeb and PlanetIT and hundreds of links to other security sites. It will provide IT managers with a comprehensive, integrated security-information resource and will serve as the industry's security- resource clearinghouse -- the first stop for IT managers charged with securing enterprise networks.

Security Express, from the editors of Network Computing, is a weekly security electronic newsletter providing customized content to IT managers. It delivers critical information, including links to vendor patches, product updates, security alerts and news bulletins that the reader pre-selects from a list of key subject areas. The newsletter will be a gated community, wholly supported by its members through dues and subscriptions.

IT managers can take advantage of a charter subscription rate of $49 for six months, including three free issues at Network Computing's NetWorld+Interop booth #5775 or by visiting http://www.networkcomputing.com/forms/join-express.html. Security Express will debut in concert with the Security Solution Center portal, June 30, 1999, with a targeted distribution of 20,000.

"What makes Security Express unique among the current offerings is that the information is culled from experts within the security community," said Fritz Nelson, editor-in-chief of Network Computing. "The newsletter in combination with the Web site fills a void."
