Viewers of TechWeb's® technology news channel on the PointCast Network™ spend an average $1.3 million annually on technology products, according to a study conducted by CMP Media Inc.'s technology super site (http://www.techweb.com/). The study is the first to examine technology purchasing authority among viewers of the Internet broadcasting service.

"Research revealed our typical PointCast viewer is a high-volume IT buyer who accesses TechWeb's technology news channel to keep up with business day developments that can potentially impact their enterprise," said Chris Tice, Associate Publisher. "More than 40 percent of the PointCast viewers we surveyed are responsible for technology purchases for their entire corporation/organization -- many of which have 500 or more employees. It's obvious from this data that PointCast's broadcast service is taking hold and that the demographics translate into big opportunities for technology marketers."

The study also revealed that the majority of TechWeb's PointCast channel viewers are early adopters of electronic commerce. Fifty-five percent indicated they have used the Internet for purchasing hardware/software, accounting for nearly a million dollars in Internet commerce the past year.

Additional findings:

-- Sixty-nine percent of TechWeb's PointCast channel viewers are in computer-related professions. More than half of which are either IS/network managers or computer consultants.

-- Fifty-eight percent work in non-technology fields such as education, finance and healthcare.

-- Eighty-three percent of TechWeb's PointCast viewers are involved with purchasing technology.
