InformationWeek, the leading IT media brand, today announced that John Foley has been named Editor of InformationWeek. Part of the staff since 1995, John has served in multiple roles around the brand and has spent the past few years launching new Web properties for InformationWeek, including the Windows Enterprise Electronic Newsletter and Windows Weblog. A 17-year veteran of business technology publishing, he brings his extensive print and online experience to his position as Editor and will work closely with InformationWeek's reporters and editors to ensure that the magazine remains the undisputed leader in the market. John will report to Editor-In-Chief Stephanie Stahl and replaces John Soat, who will become a webcast anchor for CMP Media's TechWeb. Soat will continue to work closely with InformationWeek on print and Web projects and will continue his popular "IT Confidential" column.

InformationWeek has also announced the promotion of Chris Murphy to Senior Executive Editor. In his new role, the 6-year InformationWeek veteran brings his strong news analysis skills that have helped keep InformationWeek at the forefront of industry trends. Murphy will be expanding his previous role as Executive Editor to encompass both print and online responsibilities.

"Our goal is to provide readers with timely, relevant and thought-provoking content -- online, in print, and at our live events," said Stahl. "We've got a seasoned team of business technology editors whose number one priority is meeting out readers' needs in the fast-changing world."

Foley and Murphy are part of InformationWeek's team of business technology veterans who average nearly 20 years of experience in the industry; Editorial Director and CMP Senior VP Bob Evans, Editor-In-Chief Stephanie Stahl, Editor-in-Chief of InformationWeek Events and sister magazine Optimize Brian Gillooly, Editor of Research Rusty Weston, and Tom Smith, Editor, InformationWeek Media Network Online . The team is rounded out by InformationWeek's newly appointed Publisher, Scott Vaughan, co-founder and former Publisher of Optimize.
