The CMP Game Group is once again presenting the 2nd annual Serious Games Summit D.C. The conference will spotlight the emerging industry of interactive games technology within non-entertainment sectors.

Due to the overwhelming success of last year's inaugural summit, the two-day event has moved to a larger location. The conference will be held Monday - Tuesday, Oct. 31 - Nov. 1, 2005 at the Crystal Gateway Marriott in Arlington, VA -- just minutes from downtown Washington.

The summit will cover a broad range of topics including top-line design, production, implementation, and assessment issues related to the use of games in education, policy, national defense, homeland security, corporate training and other non-entertainment sectors. Case studies of game-based solutions and simulations in use in education, healthcare and training will be presented.

"Serious Games represents a brave new world for both game developers and the broader range of organizations with practical challenges," said Jamil Moledina, director of the Game Developers Conference. "As is characteristic of the GDC, the SGSDC serves as the leading forum where pioneers share their experiences in creating interactive solutions with quantifiable results."

Various discussion topics during the conference include cost-effective development, regulations for serious games, future roles of serious game development, generating interest for your game, and grant proposal writing.

"This year's conference will bring together many of the top industry leaders, from policy makers and government agencies to educators and game development experts," said Ben Sawyer of the Serious Games Initiative who is serving as content director of the Serious Games Summit.
