CMP's VARBusiness, a leading source of information for more than 105,000 value added resellers (VARs), systems integrators, software developers and consultants, named John Hahn, Vice President, Channels Management, Netscape Communications Corp., the VARBusiness Channel Executive of the Year as part of its annual Top 10 Companies issue. The publication's March 15 issue, which can also be found on the VARBusiness Web site at http://www.varbiz.com/, also gives honorable mentions to Sun Microsystems's Dick Bowman and Microsoft's Sam Jadallah.

The VARBusiness Channel Executive of the Year was selected by VARBusiness editors and confirmed by an informal survey of the VARs who sit on the VARBusiness Advisory Board. "In just two years, Hahn has helped build one of the most productive VAR bases in the industry," VARBusiness Publisher Jeff Sundheim said. "Today, Netscape's 1,800 member reseller base accounts for more than half the company's sales, up from just 20 percent in 1995. It was a consensus of opinion among all of VARBusiness's Editors and advisory board members that Hahn should be singled out and recognized for spearheading such an achievement."

The board also gave honorable mention to Dick Bowman, Vice President, U.S., Reseller Area Channels, Sun Microsystems Inc., and Sam Jadallah, Vice President, Organization Customer Unit, Microsoft Corp. Bowman was recognized for improving Sun's Competency 2000 program with such enhancements as provisions for technicians to step in when VAR personnel are at training, and increased co-op marketing dollars. Jadallah received his nod for recruiting hundreds of new Microsoft partners, most of which are Webmasters and software consultants who are experts on the Internet. Jadallah is also credited with building Microsoft's Windows NT training business; currently the company trains more than 2,800 people on NT each month, and the Solutions Provider program he oversees has grown to almost 13,000 companies.

VARBusiness, currently celebrating its tenth anniversary this year, has a circulation of 105,040. The publication provides expert insight and trend analysis of products and technologies that helps VARs, integrators, software developers and consultants, grow their businesses.
