Computer Security Institute, FBI Go on Roadshow to Share Results of Joint Computer Crime and Security Survey

Computer Security Institute (CSI) has announced a four-city roadshow to share the findings from its 2004 Computer Crime and Security Survey. The annual survey is conducted by CSI with the participation of the San Francisco Federal Bureau of Investigation's (FBI) Computer Intrusion Squad.

CSI Editorial Director and survey author Robert Richardson will team up with members of the FBI to discuss highlights from the survey and how and why to report crime. Roadshow seminars will be held from 9 a.m.-noon, with breakfast and registration beginning at 8 a.m., in four major U.S. cities:

  -- Sept. 21, 2004 -- New York City, Park Central Hotel
  -- Sept. 22, 2004 -- Chicago, The Westin River North Hotel
  -- Sept. 23, 2004 -- San Francisco, Hyatt Regency Embarcadero
  -- Sept. 29, 2004 -- Washington, D.C., Washington Plaza

The 2004 Computer Crime and Security Survey, the Institute's ninth annual survey, reported a third straight year of decline in financial loss from cybercrime. Virus was the number one source of financial loss, followed by denial of service attacks. The survey also found that most organizations do not outsource computer securities activities and that fewer organizations are reporting computer intrusions to law enforcement.
