Miller Freeman announced today that Gary Marshall, currently President & CEO of Miller Freeman Asia, has been named President and CEO of CMP Media Inc., effective 1st January, 2000.

In addition to his role in Asia, Marshall has been leading the CMP integration into Miller Freeman since CMP's acquisition in June 1999. The integration is proceeding smoothly, and several important initiatives have been undertaken including the conversion of Windows Magazine to an online format, the launch of CIO Exchange, and the sale of CMP's UK and French portfolios.

Marshall's key objectives in the coming months include overseeing the integration of the Miller Freeman and CMP Internet businesses, and preparing for the subsequent IPO and the merging of the companies' US high-tech portfolios under a single management structure.

Marshall began his career with Arthur Andersen & Co in 1981. In 1985, he moved to Raychem Corporation, an industrial, electronics and communications concern where he held a number of senior financial and management positions. He joined United Newspapers in 1994 as CFO Asia, moving to his current position in 1996.

Commenting on his appointment Gary Marshall said, "I am thrilled at the prospect of leading such a well-respected organization into the new millennium. CMP is one of the best-known names in electronic publishing and one of the acknowledged leaders in high-tech media. Our mission now is to focus on consolidating that leadership in the digital future."

In his future role Gary Marshall will report to Don Pazour, President and CEO of Miller Freeman Inc., and will continue to be a member of the Miller Freeman Global Board. He will relocate from Hong Kong to Long Island, New York, in the new year.

Tony Tillin, CEO of Miller Freeman Worldwide said, "Gary's appointment marks the next important step in our mission of becoming the leader in business-to-business media by offering the customer an unrivalled source of expertise serving all sectors of the high-tech market."
