CMP Media Inc., a high-tech publishing, marketing and information services company based here, has hired interactive industry pioneer Jeff Einstein as Director of New Business Development for its recently-expanded Interactive Media Group.

In making the announcement, Rebecca Barna, Vice President and Group Publisher of CMP's Interactive Media Group, said, "Jeff has real vision, real direction and the requisite hands-on management and negotiating experience to translate vision into reality. He is one of the few industry veterans who brings large doses of all three qualities to the table."

Einstein will initially focus on content syndication for the products that comprise CMP's Interactive Media Group -- TechWeb®, NetGuide Live and First-TV. In addition, he will assess CMP's online creative, media and strategic assets and assemble value-added opportunities for advertisers.

Einstein is widely recognized as a new media pioneer and leading strategic thinker. He brings more than twelve years in the interactive industry to CMP, most notably as founder and president of Einstein and Sandom, Inc., founded in 1985 as one of the nation's first interactive advertising agencies and sold to DMB&B in 1994. The agency's clients included Citicorp, the New York Stock Exchange, Dun & Bradstreet, Fannie Mae, AIG, IBM, Compaq Computer, Intel, the U.S. Army ROTC, the U.S. GAO, Merck Sharp & Dohme, Upjohn, Bristol-Myers Squibb, and the governments of Scotland and the Netherlands.

More recently, Einstein served as Director of Programming for Silicon Alley web agency Sitespecific, where he designed and built Smart Syndication, the World Wide Web's first viable commercial content syndication model. Einstein is the author of "Einstein's Computer Guides," a ten-title book series published by Harcourt Brace Jovanovich in the mid 1980s. He has toured the country extensively as a featured lecturer and speaker and currently serves on the advisory boards of the MIT Enterprise Forum and several new media companies.

CMP Media Inc. provides publishing, marketing and information services to the entire high-technology spectrum -- the builders, sellers and users of technology -- through print and electronic media. All of CMP's publications and online products can be accessed through the company's TechWeb site on the World Wide Web (http://www.techweb.com/). Print titles include EE Times, Computer Reseller News, InformationWeek and WINDOWS Magazine.
