CMP Media's "Network Computing" announced the 51 winners of the 7th Annual Well-Connected Awards at a gala event held in Las Vegas last night. Spanning the full technology spectrum, the Well-Connected Awards are the only awards in the industry to use hands-on evaluations as criteria to choose its winners.

"The Well-Connected Awards are given to products, technologies and services that have withstood testing in our Real-World LabsĀ®, and proven to be essential to meeting business initiatives," said Fritz Nelson, Publisher of CMP's "Network Computing." According to Nelson, "When a product receives a Well-Connected Award, it is an important endorsement -- it is the top in its category and carries through with its promise of excellence."

Among the 51 winners announced at the awards ceremony, the most eagerly anticipated were Hardware Product of the Year, given to Cisco Systems for their Cisco AVVID IP telephony system, Software Product of the Year, given to Stalker Software for their CommuniGate Pro, and Service Provider of the Year awarded to Concert.

Winners were simultaneously posted on the "Network Computing" Web site where streaming coverage of the event is available for those that missed it live. A comprehensive listing of the technology areas, categories, finalist and winning products and companies can be viewed at http://www.nwc.com/redirects/wca.html

Both Well-Connected Award winners and finalists are highlighted in the May 14th issue of "Network Computing." In addition to its bi-monthly circulation of 220,000, the Well-Connected issue will have additional distribution of over 14,000 copies at NetWorld+Interop, one of the industry's largest trade shows.
