NSTL, CMP Media's IT testing unit, has partnered with the Standards Institute of Israel (SII) to establish a technology testing laboratory in Tel Aviv servicing the local Israeli market. The agreement with the governmental standards body makes it the NSTL partner of choice for the entire Middle East region.

NSTL's work in Israel will include network and telecommunications testing, multimedia testing and Year 2000 testing. Custom work for SII encompasses performance, usability, functionality, compatibility and acceptance testing.

"Israel is a burgeoning incubator for technology. IDC has estimated its IT market to be worth $3.6 billion -- the world's 29th largest" said NSTL President Debra C. Robinson. "With establishment of our local laboratory there, vendors seeking product approval will no longer have to use out-of- country sources for testing and certification."

The Standards Institution of Israel (SII) is the country's official body for the preparation and publication of Israeli standards. It also is deeply involved in the testing and certification of nearly every type of local and imported consumer, industrial and building product available on the Israeli market, and in auditing and certifying quality systems. SII grants Standards Marks, Safety Marks and Green Labels to products that have been tested and certified, and is one of the prime promoters of ISO 9000 in the country. Its home page is on the Web at http://www.sii.org.il/.
