CMP Media Acquires European Business Press; Electronics Express Strengthens CMP's Electronics Portfolio
CMP Media Inc. announced today that it has acquired European Business Press (EBP), a Brussels-based publisher of pan-European technical publications, whose flagship title Electronics Express reaches over 50,000 electronics professionals in Germany, the UK, France, Italy, and other west European countries.
Electronics Express, a monthly tabloid, was launched in March 1998 and has had a remarkable growth track, from 48 pages in issue 1 to the present issue being distributed at Electronica in Munich next week with 124 pages. Effective immediately, the CMP Electronics Group in the U.S. will take over sales representation for Express in the U.S. All of the existing employees will join CMP and the group's excellent sales representation network throughout Europe is being retained.
Steve Weitzner, President of CMP's Electronics Group, said, "Electronics Express gives our group a solid platform for our European expansion. EBP's excellent publishing and editorial people are key resources for growing our business in the coming years." Andre Rousselot, president of European Business Press and publisher of Electronics Express, will join CMP Electronics as Managing Director of the EBP group, and Tony Johnson, the other partner in EBP, will continue as Sales Director of the group.
CMP publishes two other pan-European titles, Embedded Systems Europe and Microwave Engineering Europe, through its London-based UK electronics group.
