CMP Media's InformationWeek announced that it has appointed Brian Gillooly as Editor-in-Chief of its successful face-to-face events business. As Editor-in-Chief, Gillooly will direct and manage the strategy, positioning and content for all InformationWeek Events.

"We are thrilled to welcome Brian back to InformationWeek," said Stephanie Stahl, InformationWeek Editor. "His vision and broad media experience will help us continue to deliver top-notch content that our customers -- event attendees, magazine readers, and web visitors -- expect from InformationWeek."

Brian was the Editor of InformationWeek Magazine from January 1998 until August 1999. Before that, he held various management positions at InformationWeek during his 12-year tenure at CMP Media. For the past six months, Gillooly was senior VP, Eastern region, for a Dallas-based e-commerce solutions provider before returning to InformationWeek.

InformationWeek also announced that it has tapped Jay Leno, host of NBC's Tonight Show, to be the featured entertainment at the Fall InformationWeek Conference, "The Customer Experience: New Opportunities, New Business Models," to be held September 10-13 at the Westin La Paloma in Tucson, AZ. This annual event brings more than 500 IT buyers and sellers together.

"This year we're taking our successful conference model to the next level," said Gillooly. "We're delivering more provocative content, creating more audience interaction, trying new content-delivery formats, and of course continuing to draw some of the most intriguing and influential thinkers in the business/IT community. Leveraging this year's theme, the Fall InformationWeek Conference will give our attendees the insights and strategies they need to enhance the customer experience, develop better customer relationship strategies, and embrace new business opportunities in today's dynamic marketplace."

The conference discussion will be led by Chairman Paul Romer, Professor of Economics, Graduate School of Business, Stanford University, Conference Host, David Bent, VP and CIO of Visteon Automotive Systems, and InformationWeek editors through a series of interactive panels, a live RFP presentation, case studies from IT executives, and a "live value chain" presentation conducted by Visteon's, David Bent.

"The InformationWeek Conference is a huge opportunity for attendees to network with their peers, learn about the latest techniques from today's forward-thinking companies and interact with representatives from technology companies who provide the technology solutions they need," said Mike Friedenberg, Associate Publisher, InformationWeek.

The Fall InformationWeek Conference is underwritten by Active Software, APC, Aventail, Bluestone Software, Cable & Wireless, Citrix, Cognizant Technology Solutions, Cognos, Comsys, Content Technologies, DigitalThink, InfoRay, Information Builders, Keynote, Latitude Communications, Merant, Net iQ, NetScout Systems, Novell, Primavera, Primix Solutions, Remedy, RSA Security, Sprint, Symantec, Tangram Enterprise Solutions, Viking Components and WRQ.
