CMP Media Launches EE Times Networks for the Communications and Design Engineering Communities; Names Richard Wallace to Lead Expansion
CMP Media's EE Times, the industry news source for engineers and technical managers, announces the fortification of its editorial team and the formation of specialized Networks in the communications, embedded systems and design automation markets. These Networks represent a tighter integration of its print and online coverage.
Richard Wallace, former EE Times editorial director and previously EDTN managing director, will assume the role of EE Times Network vice president and editorial director, overseeing strategic and day-to-day operations of all print and online properties. "EE Times readers have a voracious appetite for information, yet their time is at a premium. That's driving this opportunity to take the industry's leading news weekly and most popular engineering web sites to the next level. EE Times will expand its online news and web publishing operations and step up its weekly technology coverage and industry news analysis," says Wallace.
Brian Fuller becomes editor-in-chief of EE Times, bringing his extensive news reporting and online experience to this leadership position. Rick Merritt and David Lammers will assume the roles of editor-at-large, allowing them to focus on high-level investigative reporting. Anthony Cataldo has been promoted to EE Times Editor, News. "The dual nature of journalism today requires a coordinated effort to filter the most important news of the day quickly to the web, with expanded coverage and analysis in print," says Fuller. "Our readers demand the information they need, when they need it, where they want it."
Tim Moran, the newly appointed EE Times online editor, will oversee the strategic integration of the news web site EE Times.com with its technical communities, Planet Analog, The Work Circuit, CommsDesign.com, Embedded.com and EEdesign.com. Moran will create exclusive online content to supplement the information needs of print subscribers and online visitors worldwide.
Industry guru Loring Wirbel, director of EE Times' Communications Network, will oversee editorial direction of the monthly print publication, Communication Systems Design (CSD) and its online community, CommsDesign.com. Both Wirbel and Ron Wilson, editorial director of Integrated System Design (ISD), will take a more prominent role in reporting and providing commentary on EE Times. Richard Goering, EE Times' EDA editor, heads up an expanded EEdesign.com for systems and chip designers, rounding out the EE Times Design Network. Former CSD editor Rob Keenan joins the expanded CommsDesign.com.
The Embedded Network leverages the well-established brands of EE Times, Embedded Systems Programming (ESP) magazine, Embedded.com and the Embedded Systems Conferences. "CSD, ESP and ISD are perfect extensions of the flagship EE Times. Their specialized, in-depth design coverage complements the news and analysis of EE Times. Our mission is to continually provide communications and systems designers with the information they need to do their jobs better," adds Wallace.
Another facet of each EE Times Network is its strong affiliation with industry leading events, such as CMP's recently launched Communications Design Conference (which debuted in October 2001) and the Embedded Systems Conferences. These events provide a unique opportunity for engineers and technical managers to learn from-and meet face-to-face-with specialists and vendors who are working with leading-edge technology.
EE Times Network sales representatives are empowered as a single point of contact to customize integrated marketing packages that will best serve the needs of communications and EDA marketing professionals.
"Combining EE Times the print newsweekly with these specialized publications and their online communities, plus select technical events, gives engineers an unprecedented opportunity to find the various information they need, and gives advertisers an unprecedented opportunity to cost-effectively reach a valuable extended audience," says Paul Miller, VP/managing director, CMP Electronics Group.
