The Internet Group of CMP Media Inc. (http://www.howiwork.com/), a leading provider of high-technology news and information today announced the launch of TechReviews.com (http://www.techreviews.com/), the Internet Group's first new "cross-community" Web-based tools and services. TechReviews consolidates CMP's library of more than 800 current technology product reviews that appear in its print and on-line publications and community sites including InformationWeek, CRN, InternetWeek, Network Computing, and Winmag. Key partners at launch include BugNet, which will provide bug solutions and fixes and Doculabs, which will offer reports on emerging technologies.

TechReviews consists of reviews, methodologies, paid and free content and access to relevant product and vendor databases and is organized according to type of technology and product group, allowing easier access to information for all types of technology regardless of a user's specific high-tech specialty. TechReviews was developed as part of the larger howiwork toolbox, a business-to-business workspace that provides users with the most relevant content, tools and services necessary for making work decisions throughout project lifecycles.

"As the first cross-community tool in the howiwork toolbox, the launch of TechReviews marks an important step in the development of the Internet Group's offering to high-tech professionals," said Seth Nichols, CEO of CMP Media's Internet Group. "By delivering a new tool that consolidates the extensive information available from CMP Media's publications and on-line communities, and adding tools and services from highly respected partners, we are increasingly able to help high-technology professionals work more efficiently and more effectively at each stage of the project lifecycle."

TechReviews is the first howiwork tool that consolidates information from many CMP sources and third parties into a single resource, bridging all of the high-technology communities and markets that CMP serves by bringing together content from multiple publications and on-line communities.

TechReviews will provide reports on emerging technologies from Doculabs based on the company's comprehensive research and discussions with the vendors. These reports provide in-depth research designed to supplement the product reviews available on TechReviews. High-tech professionals can use them to support purchasing decisions regarding infrastructure projects. These reports are located in the TechReviews Marketplace. TechReviews will also offer testing services and methodology reports from NSTL Testing Labs for sale to users.

Articles on TechReviews will be supplemented with information from BugNet, a leading provider of software bug solutions and fix information. TechReviews readers are able to link to BugNet's Bug Fix database, which contains descriptions and solutions for over 18,000 bugs. In addition, users can download patches and fixes through a link from the BugNet site. The partnership with BugNet adds significant value to CMP's users by bringing together the resources necessary for high-technology professionals to work more efficiently and make educated technology decisions not otherwise available in a single location.

TechReviews content can be accessed through the howiwork workspace located on the Web sites of CMP publications including InformationWeek, CRN, Network Computing, Internet Week and VARBusiness and through CMP's Web communities: ChannelWeb (http://www.channelweb.com/), and Planet IT (http://www.planetit.com/), as well as through its dedicated URL (http://www.techreviews.com/).
