This year, WEB2000, the conference designed by web professionals for web professionals, will focus on the critical need for web professionals to combine their technical expertise with business know-how. Each day of this five-day conference will have a different theme including: core competencies, standards and best practices, tools and techniques, and emerging technologies. The three-day exposition will feature start-ups as well as industry leaders including Adobe, Macromedia, IBM and Intel.

Development experts from Organic, Inc., Razorfish, Meta Group and many others will lead this year's educational sessions in three key areas: Strategy, User Experience and Technology. The five-day WEB2000 program is designed to sharpen the skills necessary for attendees to become part of an integrated and strategic web team. These skills are essential to web professionals who must effectively interact with all segments of a business, including marketing, IT and business development. The conference will also address the future of the web, including the strategic and technical issues surrounding wireless applications for the Internet.

"The theme of this year's conference is understanding the importance of being a complete web professional," said Bridget Hart, show director. "Survivors of the Internet shake-out will be organizations that understand that the formula for success includes a solid strategy, reliable technology and an effective user experience. The bottom line is that winning organizations in this market will have their whole team working together towards this common goal."

WEB2000 offers web professionals the chance to spend time socializing with peers, sharing ideas and inspiring each other through a slew of networking events taking place during the show as well as after hours. These events include an interactive online lounge, an online competitive game called WEB2000 BrainTeaser, a competition to redesign a non-profit's site in a day and the Web Techniques Web Tools Awards. At night, Birds of a Feather social events will take place at different venues around San Francisco and the yearly WEB2000 conference party will be held on Thursday, November 2.
