CMP Media LLC (NASDAQ: UNEWY) today announced that New Architect magazine has garnered a Western Publications Associations (WPA) Maggie Award for the best Computers/Software, Training & Program Development magazine. New Architect won the award as Web Techniques magazine having changed its name to New Architect in March of 2002.

New Architect is the longest standing publication devoted to the Internet industry. It provides coverage of Internet strategies for technology leaders.

"We're extremely honored to have been nominated four times this year, and to have received our second Maggie win in as many years," said editor in chief Amit Asaravala. "It's a great privilege to be recognized by our peers and our heroes as an example of quality and achievement in publishing, especially given our unique approach to technology coverage. It's a sign that the industry is looking for more well-rounded, in-depth publications."

Like New Architect continues to do today, Web Techniques provided readers with multiple features and angles on a critical topic. The December 2001 issue focused on a key question for the technology industry: Will consumers pay for the Internet?

"Articles in the issue explored how it will take long-term vision, strong leadership, and a willingness to take risks for online media to be truly successful," said Asaravala. "The New Architect staff tries to embody the same ideals, both online and in print."

The Maggie Awards, the Western Publications Association's most prestigious publishing event, honors editorial, design, and promotion excellence in magazine, tabloid, newsletter, and online publishing. The 2002 Maggie Awards received more than 2,000 entries. Over 700 publishing professionals gathered in Los Angeles to honor their peers at this year's 51st annual awards ceremony held April 26.

New Architect, as Web Techniques, was a Maggie Awards finalist in two additional categories, with a total of four nominations in 2002: Best Overall Design/Trade and Best Color Editorial Layout/Trade (two nominations). In 2001, Web Techniques won a Maggie for Best Signed Editorial or Essay/Trade.

"The Maggie Awards are a bellwether for editorial excellence," said New Architect's group director, Bob Melk. "We're very proud of the award New Architect received this year for the best magazine in our category in addition to our four nominations."
