CMP Media Inc., one of the world's largest information-technology publishers, today announced the acquisition of ENEN (the Entertainment, News and Education Network), a producer and distributor of online seminars and video Web-casts from eConnections, Inc. ENEN is considered a pioneer in its use of the Internet to broadcast news, technology and product information to qualified audiences, which currently includes more than 485,000 registered design engineers in 79 countries worldwide.

ENEN's NetSeminars enable companies to broadcast live multimedia presentations over the Internet, incorporating video, audio and chat interactivity between speakers and participants. ENEN's clients leverage NetSeminar broadcasts to conduct training, create product demand and generate leads from attendees. Organizations also use NetSeminars internally to improve their employees' knowledge by supplying up-to-the-minute product and sales information.

Richard Wallace, managing director of CMP's EDTN Network, the online news portal for electronics design engineers, procurement and business professionals, said "The acquisition of ENEN will create new revenue opportunities for EDTN and CMP's other online communities by enabling us to reach qualified, specialized audiences with interactive marketing services and rich-media editorial content."

ENEN will continue to serve its current customer base in the electronics industry as part of CMP's Electronics Group. In addition, ENEN's services will be extended across several CMP business units to meet the needs of other market segments. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

"eConnections is focused on supply-chain management solutions, and Quotility, the authorized online quote utility for the electronics industry," added Rob Rodin, CEO of eConnections, Inc. "As we streamline our strategy, it made sense to align ENEN with a company like CMP Media, which will expand its services and customer base."
