CMP Media Inc.'s Business Technology Group, today announced several moves as part of its continuing plan to enhance its interaction with its content customers. The plan, including the creation of two new teams, key hires and heavy investment, will focus on providing online, print and event audiences world class customer experiences.

The BTG Audience Development Department, known in most other publishing companies, as "circulation," will now provide integrated support across all of the media platforms offered by the BTG as a part of its 360-degree media system.

Newly tapped to lead this team is Michael Zane, formerly Group Circulation Director for all of Ziff Davis' controlled IT titles. Adding to the backbone of strong Audience Development Directors, Scott Popowitz, also formerly from Ziff Davis, will come on board to focus on InformationWeek.

"In this incredibly customer-centric economy, an intense focus is necessary to continually delight your customers. I'm confident that Michael will be instrumental in creating such an experience," stated Adam Marder, Group President of the Business Technology Group.

The second team, Customer Relationship Marketing, will be lead by CMP veteran, Tom Kraemer and will focus on developing and maintaining a state of the art customer database. Customer Relationship Marketing will create a central customer repository to maintain demographic information alongside contact management data for all BTG activities, including print, events, research, e-mail and online, which will facilitate easy web interaction by our customers as well as allow us to market faster and smarter.

"These initiatives highlight BTG's dedication to innovation and investment in our audiences. Together, both teams will create a strategic and competitive advantage for our 360 degree media brands," said Kristina Russo, General Manager of the Business Technology Group.

Before joining CMP, Michael Zane spent 5 years as the driving force behind the circulation strategies for eWeek, InterActiveWeek, SmartPartner and The Net Economy. His experience also includes several years as a BPA consultant. The combined brand portfolio that Scott Popowitz, (formerly with Smart Business, Yahoo!InternetLife, Expedia Travel and eShopper) and Zane focused on while at Ziff swept the recent Circulation Management's 6th Annual Circulation Excellence Awards capturing both Gold and Silver in the business magazine category, and Silver in the consumer magazine category.
