Apr 18, 2012

CHICAGO, April 18, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Milicruit, the recognized leader for virtual career fairs for the military community, announces their support and participation in Joining Forces, The White House Initiative led by the First Lady and Dr. Jill Biden.

Milicruit, Military Officers Association of America-MOAA, DirectEmployers Association, and 25 industry leading employers have stepped up to help at least 10,000 veterans and military spouses find employment by the end of 2013. Employers from a wide range of industries have already signed on the 10,000 Jobs Challenge such as: Aetna, American Red Cross, Arise Virtual Solutions Inc., Camping World and Good Sam, CBRE, Citi, Convergys, DaVita, DISH Network, Dr Pepper Snapple Group, Graybar, IHG, Level 3 Communications, Lowe's, Penske, Pepsi Beverages Company, Pfizer, Philips, Progressive, Sears, State Street Corporation, The SI Organization, TSA, Waste Management, and Xerox Business Services.

"It is with great pride and pleasure that we announce our support of the Joining Forces Initiative. To see the amount of support and attention the First Lady and Dr. Biden have generated since the launch of the program one year ago, is simply amazing. The employers who have signed on to take the 10K Challenge, and all the other organizations who have given commitments to the Joining Forces program are to be commended, and it clearly shows, as the First Lady said, 'You do live in a grateful nation,'" Said Kevin O'Brien, vice president business development, Milicruit.

As part of the 10K Challenge, Milicruit and MOAA will now host monthly national virtual career fairs, and will also track the hires from the employer partners on the 10,000 Jobs website.  DirectEmployers has developed the Milicruit Crosswalk which now allows service members, veterans, and military spouses to search for jobs available across all the employers involved in the challenge by; location, job title, and even Military Occupations Specialty or Military Occupation Code- MOS/MOC, which will make it much easier for a transitioning service member to find jobs in the civilian world that match what they did in the service.

Milicruit will formally kickoff the 10,000 Jobs Challenge with MOAA at the MOAA career fair being held in Washington D.C. on April 24, 2012 at the Washington Convention Center from 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM. Milicruit will also host a Military Spouse nationwide virtual career fair on May 7, 2012  in recognition of the Military Spouse Appreciation Day.
