Corporate America Taking a Virtual Approach to Recruiting and Hiring Veterans

27,000 jobs available for veterans and military spouses in the nationwide virtual career fair February 23, 2012

CHICAGO, Feb. 2, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- UBM Studios' Milicruit, the recognized leader in virtual career fairs for veterans and military spouses, and the Military Officers Association of America, announce the date of the next national career fair for service members, veterans, and military spouses to be held on February 23, 2012.

The virtual career fair provides employers the opportunity to meet with job seekers from all over the country/world in just a few hours, and without the cost, burden, or expense of traveling to a physical venue. The virtual career fair is free to all active duty, guard/reservists, veterans, and military spouses, and signing up is as easy as visiting www.veteranscareerfair.com.

"Having helped over 4,400 veterans find jobs with our employer partners last year, we wanted to do all we can in 2012 to raise the bar, and I am thrilled our employer partners and government agencies have risen to the challenge by helping us find 10,000 jobs for veterans and military spouses in 2012," stated Kevin O'Brien V.P Business Development Milicruit.

The Milicruit career fair works very similar to a traditional career fair except the job seeker can attend from anywhere in the world with a computer and internet access. Veterans can: build a profile, upload their resume, visit employer booths, view/apply for jobs, chat live with recruiters, and meet with fellow veterans in the networking lounge.

To help prepare service members, veterans and military spouses for the virtual career fairs, Milicruit will also offer resume workshops a week before each career fair. Employers will staff their booth, and be online to review resumes, and provide guidance on tips in designing a civilian resume. The first resume workshop will take place on February 16th from 4-7PM EST.

In addition to the national career fair Milicruit will host on February 23rd, there are also over 20 regional career fairs planned throughout 2012 which can be found on the event calendar on www.veteranscareerfair.com.

"We are very excited about one upcoming career fair in particular which will take place on March 14th for soldiers in Kuwait that will be returning home in the near future. This virtual career fair will allow them to meet and chat with employers back home that are eager to hire them. The career fair will give them a head start not usually available to soldiers serving overseas. In essence, we are bringing the career fair and the employers directly to them!" stated O'Brien.
