Milicruit Presented the Veteran's Day Virtual Career Fair, Targeted to Veterans, Military Personnel and Spouses Seeking Employment

CHICAGO, Nov. 18, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- UBM Studios Milicruit, the recognized leader of virtual career fairs for veterans, presented the Veteran's Day Virtual Career Fair (www.veteranscareerfair.com), which brought 64 industry leading employers and government agencies as well as veterans, military personnel and spouses together in a fully interactive online environment.

The virtual career fair drew more than 13,000 visitors to employer's booths.  The average dwell time in the environment by an attendee was 122 minutes.  Additionally, attendees visited an average of ten employer booths and uploaded more than 6,500 resumes.

Milicruit partnered with Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) to deliver the virtual career fair.  In addition, the event was held in cooperation with the VA-Vet Success and the Department of Labor-VETS.

Sixty-four organizations committed to assisting with the alarmingly high unemployment rate veterans face after leaving active duty participated at the Veteran's Day Virtual Career Fair.  Several of the employers included: GE, Verizon, P&G, Amazon, Waste Management, IBM, Citrix, Medtronic, Comerica, Bank of America, USDA, FBI, DOE, First Investors, Ideal Innovations Inc., ACS-Xerox, Verizon Wireless, Walgreens, Wellpoint, Memorial Sloane Kettering, Military to Medicine, Amazon, IBM, Sears, Graybar, Advanced Technology Services Inc., Compass Group/Chartwell, AT&T, Hyatt, Hertz, ADP and Abbott Laboratories.  The employers together represented more than 5,000 jobs from manufacturing to retail to telecommunications.  

In the virtual career fair veterans visited employer booths, viewed and applied for jobs, uploaded resumes, chatted with recruiters, and networked with peers all from the comfort and convenience of home.  Since the career fair is virtual, it is cost effective, time efficient and environmentally friendly.  In addition, no travel is required, therefore, the virtual career fair offers opportunities for individuals all over the country and provides employers with a wider talent pool.  

The Milicruit platform is a valuable service for all veterans looking for employment and especially for veterans with disabilities, since veterans can attend from anywhere with a high speed internet connection.

In addition, Milicruit worked with the Xerox Let's Say Thanks program to give event attendees and employers an opportunity to send a note to US troops stationed overseas.
