InformationWeek Calls On The IT Community To Nominate The Top Startup Companies for Its First Annual InformationWeek Startup 50 Research.

SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- InformationWeek's Startup City announced the call for nominations for the first InformationWeek Startup 50. The editors of InformationWeek's Startup City find entrepreneurs with the hottest new technology and define the value behind them for InformationWeek's audience, including company profiles in InformationWeek magazine as well as on informationweek.com.

Startup City has evolved into the market leading resource for the world of technology startups and has launched several initiatives involving startups over the past few years. They include profiles in InformationWeek magazine, the Startup City blog, and Startup City TV, where startups participate in video interviews with InformationWeek editors.

"I'm pleased to introduce InformationWeek's 'Startup 50,' a new editorial project that will culminate in our highlighting 50 technology startups in InformationWeek magazine and on InformationWeek.com," said John Foley, Editor, InformationWeek. "We're excited to be opening the selection process to the IT community, it will involve three steps: nominating startups, voting on those startups, and, finally, vetting them."

The criteria for evaluating startups for InformationWeek's Startup 50 include the innovation, value, and enterprise-readiness of their products and services. The advantage to companies chosen for Startup 50 will be exposure to InformationWeek's wide-reaching audience of IT professionals.

To nominate startups for InformationWeek's Startup 50, send an e-mail to Foley at jpfoley@techweb.com with the name of your favorite company and a few words on why it stands out. If you're a company insider, submit the company via our "tell us about your startup" online form on the Startup City blog page: http://www.informationweek.com/form/startupcity.jhtml. Nominations will also be accepted in the comments section of the blog post by Foley, http://www.informationweek.com/blog/main/archives/2009/01/launching_infor.html. The InformationWeek Startup 50 will be recognized in the April 13, 2009 issue of InformationWeek Magazine.
