SAN FRANCISCO, June 20 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- CMP Technology's EE Times and TechOnline today announced a series of editorial management changes designed to accelerate the growth and expansion of CMP's technology media portfolio. These changes, which are part of a CMP-wide transformation from its print roots into a next-generation media company, include the consolidation of the EE Times and TechOnline editorial teams and the strengthening of CMP's online offerings for design engineers and engineering managers.

CMP Technology's Innovators Group Vice President & Global Brand Director, Ross Ayotte, stated, "We are committed to being the leading technology media company in the industry. We were the first B2B media company to launch online, EE Times was the first publication to launch a digital issue and we were the first company to introduce local language websites for the European electronics industry. The latest moves show that we are the first 'print centric' media company to transform into the Media 2.0 environment. The substantial investments, acquisitions and innovations we are making will allow us to sustain our leading position going forward. No other media company can offer marketing solutions and services that combine the market-leading brands, across all platforms and offer customer-centric sales and marketing solutions. We are a company with a vision for the future of media, with deep technology expertise, with growth opportunities, and with the profits and resources to deliver that vision and to deliver on our customers needs."

Junko Yoshida, formerly executive editor, news, has been named editor in chief of EE Times and is now responsible for global news and industry coverage. Patrick Mannion, formerly managing editor, has been named editor in chief of TechOnline and is responsible for DesignLines, eeProductCenter, Tech Paper Library and all TechOnline content operations. Yoshida and Mannion will serve the electronics and design engineering and management communities by focusing all of their editorial and content resources toward online news and online technical and product coverage. The weekly editions of EE Times in the U.S. and the regional editions in Europe, Japan, China and Asia will contain the most appropriate mix of news, design, technology, products and business stories relevant to each regional edition. The weekly content for EE Times Design and Product sections will be assembled and edited by a team of TechOnline technical editors.

The EE Times business section, launched earlier this year, will be expanded both in online coverage and in print. Bolaji Ojo, the former editor in chief of Electronic Supply & Manufacturing magazine, has been named business editor. In addition, beginning July 16, the EE Times' monthly Planet Analog supplement will be expanded to a weekly EE Times analog section which will add power management coverage and reach the entire EE Times print circulation plus an additional 55,000 subscribers. Planet Analog will also be developed as an online offering under TechOnline. Both the expanded print and online offerings will be led by Bill Schweber, editor of Planet Analog.

Richard Wallace, vice president, editorial director will drive the integrated US, European, EE Times and TechOnline teams and Tim Moran, editor in chief of eetimes.com, will lead the site integration and redesign of both websites.

As part of a commitment to deeper analysis of the industry issues, an EE Times Intelligence Unit will be established and led by Loring Wirbel, Senior Analyst. Working closely with CMP's Heavy Reading, Wirbel will be responsible for producing highly specialized research and analytical market reports.

"The EE Times brand will continue its focus on the delivery of breaking news but, the collection and distribution of that information must reflect the demands of the digital communications world. Beginning immediately, the news, news management, and news analysis function is first and foremost an online function," said Wallace. "CMP is transitioning rapidly to bring TechOnline, DesignLines, EE Times, Tech Paper Library, eetimes.com, eetimes.eu -- the U.S., Europe and our entire media sphere into better alignment with new and emerging opportunities for our global readers and our customers."

EE Times will continue to publish weekly and beginning in July the circulation will change to reflect its increased online focus. Its digital circulation will jump to 30,000 and print circulation will be 100,000.
