CMP Technology's RFID World 2007 Highlights Business Case for RFID5th annual conference explores RFID benefits beyond mandates; draws record number of attendees and exhibitorsPRNewswire IRVINE, Calif., April 9 /PRNewswire/ -- For the first time in RFID World's five-year history, the main conference messages had nothing to do with mandates. Attendees at CMP RFID World 2007, the industry's largest trade event held March 26-28 at the Gaylord Texan Resort in Grapevine, Texas (near Dallas), heard from an all-star roster of speakers including keynotes from Best Buy International, Marks and Spencer, Kimberly-Clark, ThingMagic, AT&T and Siemens Energy & Automation. Speakers went beyond RFID mandates to discuss the many ways RFID is reengineering business processes, elevating customer service, and gaining traction in applications beyond the retail supply chain. (Logo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20060301/SFW013LOGO ) As reflected in presentations throughout the event, interest in RFID technology and applications continues to grow; RFID World 2007 saw more than a 12% increase in attendance over last year's show. Additionally, 200-plus exhibitors filled the show floor, showcasing everything from pharmaceutical authentication products to animal tracking to retail marketing applications for RFID. Industry analysts predicted growth in RFID applications ranging from asset tracking to contactless payment and ePassports. A number of companies, including Intel, Motorola, AT&T, and IBM leveraged RFID World as the event to announce industry news and show their latest products. "The growth in attendance for this year's show is indicative of the major growth and maturation we've seen in the RFID industry during the past year," said Bill Allen, group director of RFID at CMP Technology, the producers of RFID World. "The enterprise community is beginning to embrace RFID as a true solution instead of just rushing to comply with mandates, and companies across the board continue to develop innovative ways to use RFID that aren't limited to supply chain applications." As the industry continues to expand, RFID World is growing to meet the demand; CMP Technology has announced a new fall conference taking place September 19 and 20, 2007 in Boston, MA. The show, RFID World: Boston, will be co-located with the Embedded Systems Conference and Software Development Best Practices 2007. RFID World: Boston's main focus will be on authentication applications and security. Additionally, RFID World: Europe, now in its third year, will be held October 1 and 2, 2007 in Frankfurt, Germany.
