BOSTON, Oct. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- More than 3,300 electronics technology industry professionals attended CMP Technology's 15th annual Embedded Systems Conference Boston (http://www.esconline.com/boston), which ran September 25-28 at the Hynes Convention Center. With its unmatched opportunities for training, innovation and networking, this year's conference was the season's largest gathering for system architects and design engineers, with preliminary data indicating a 20 percent increase in conference and exhibits attendance, year over year.

The country's top embedded engineers descended on the Hynes Convention Center for the season's best training, the opportunity to network with peers, press, analysts and VCs, and compare products from more than 140 leading exhibitors. Industry leaders like AMD, Intel, Microsoft, Texas Instruments, Green Hills Software, NXP Semiconductor, IBM, Mentor Graphics and Sun Microsystems showcased their latest breakthrough technologies, while attendees enjoyed a comprehensive technical program of 92 classes and tutorials covering topics across the technology map.

"The show floor was full of excitement this year as new innovations and products made their debut at ESC Boston," says Richard Nass, editor-in-chief of Embedded Systems Design and editorial director for the Embedded Systems Conferences and Embedded.com. "Texas Instruments announced its latest C55 DSP as well as a hands-free car kit reference design; Enea announced an Eclipse- based Integrated Development Environment (IDE) for its OSE RTOS; and Avnet is creating a buzz with its online design center. And that's just the tip of the iceberg."

"Social networking" drove a large part of the dialogue and product innovations unveiled this year. As today's young engineers have incorporated the movement into their personal and professional lives, many questions were raised, such as: "What hardware will best support peer-to-peer content sharing? What's the best way to manage the large and disparate data files coming into small-footprint mobile devices? And how can developers keep the mushrooming lines of software code needed to drive it all both error free and secure?"

"One particularly exciting new product demonstrated at ESC Boston was Thread-Metric by ExpressLogic, designed to manage thread-intensive social networking applications. It's also a tool that enables developers to evaluate different operating systems using an open-source benchmark," added Nass. "This tool can be a huge help to engineers when making a critical design decision."

To enhance the attendee experience, CMP Technology introduced brand new programs for 2006, including the Disruption Zone which featured groundbreaking innovations from leading start-ups, those taking the next big leap forward in revolutionizing the industry. Attendees also attended "Live Teardowns" of popular electronics, like a Sony DVDirect™ MC1 Multi Function DVD Recorder and a Roomba vacuum, while the "Get to the Point Panel" brought the Linux technology debate right to the exhibits floor.
